Isabelle Rawson | Painting, Neither Alive nor dead

Isabelle Rawson creates abstract, rich oil paintings. The work explores the movement of paint on paper, as it traces fluid gestures and restless energy.
Rawson’s work could be considered spontaneous, reacting to of-the-moment, emotional influences. With no pre-defined goal at the painting’s outset the work evolves through the doing and asks the audience to form intersubjective connections with the artist via these traces.

The work that is presented in the archive, shows a collection of Oil paintings. The aim was to explore different properties of the paint and to apprieciate colours that particularly work well together. Enabling me to explore the range of shapes that can be compose through different techniques.

Works

: The Collaborative project was a chance for us as students to work as a collective. The group was made up of six, the aim of the project was to create an event, that began at a specific time, and then ran on till the task was done, the group began blowing up balloons in the evening, which turned into early morning, throughout the night people came to watch.

: The installation was to demonstrate the empty postcards, that gained no reply.

: This mini machete of the white cube, was created after, spending two hours within the room, I wanted to demonstrate the time that I had spent in the room itself, and this was the end product of my experiment.

: This was also created shortly after the time I spent in the room. I began thinking how can I cut off the space within the room, and one of the experiments was this 53 chairs stacked on top of one another, to create a barrier from the space behind the chairs.
